Definitely prostitution is a delicate and polemical topic. Sex, drugs, money, are an indispensable part of this great business. Prostitution has been always a transitional occupation for working-class women. As long as those women had the choice when to "renounce"; their future would be insured.

The social dilemma presented by prostitution is very complicated. Most prostitutes have admitted that they would change occupations, but at the same time it is not surprising that many of them marry former clients. It is important to mention that virtually all adult prostitutes began as child prostitutes.

Women bodies are treated like objects, unappreciated, and when there is no use for them; women get discarded like an old rag.



There are many countries where the laws prohibiting prostitution freely, while in others it does not have any control which leads to unfortunate consequences. The ways to get money from selling sex are varied: Phone sex, pornography, escorts, geishas, etc.

The presumption that all people who sell sex do not have other option it is not completely true. We can not deny that economic want is a solid factor for sex workers, but it is not the only one in prostitution. Not all poor people sell sex. Sometimes poverty presses us to get money doing anything.

Prostitution is a world where people can get a lot of money in a very easy manner. Many prostitutes love being independent. Some of them just think to show their families that they can get everything they want without any kind of help. They tend to spend their money to having a big apartment, a car of the year, luxurious jewelry, on surgeries.

If prostitution were legalised and regulated, very probably licensed brothel owners would not hire minor, trafficked or illegal women.

Journalists and researchers that have interviewed sex workers claim for security. They say that sex workers are extremely worried about the lack of personal safety. Safe workers have to face different kind of violence such as: verbal abuse, insults from their neighborhoods, attempted murder, robbery, etc.

Even sex workers can suffer violence from fellow workers who compete for a good spot. The risk is very high. It is in this point where authorities need to support sex workers, making their life safer establishing clear rules for this type of activity.



The multimillion-dollar prostitution industry that makes billions of dollars annually, it is a magnet for anyone who wants to make easy money. But we can not forget that many people who wanted to escape from this world, have been harassed, humiliated, killed.

Protecting victims of prostitution is not an easy task. Many people want a change in life, so they can take new opportunities to improve their life, but great economic needs, the huge pressure of society and especially the lack of support, make this desire unachievable for the majority of them.

A strong partnership between police and sex workers will help enormously to avoid violence, murders and of course, it will teach us to understand or at least, trying to understand sex workers and develop a good environment of tolerance. Tolerance is a virtue that very few possess.

Education begins with respect for all individuals. No matter what their religion, nationality, age, race or social class. Without respect, there is no education. And without education, there is no development.
